Elon Musk is a hero to many people, including me. He seems to accomplish so many amazing things in relatively little time. My Daddy and I were talking about all his companies and the inventions they are coming up with, and we wondered if we could even make a list of all of them.

Below is the list I could come up with of all Elon's great accomplishments, but I'm sure I've probably missed some. If you think of any please let me know using the comments box below!

The Dark Side of Pet Cloning
Imagine that you see a fluffy cute dog, but he is limping. Then you turn your head, see that same fluffy dog. Now you see the same exact dog everywhere, but all of them have something wrong, that is due to pet cloning. Pet cloning is dangerous and cruel to animals. Cloning means to replicate a living thing. People want to clone a pet because they have a connection and don't want to lose that connection. Cloning causes two downfalls for pets in general. Cloning a beloved pet causes other pets to not be adopted so they end up getting slaughtered. Also when cloning a pet there is a good chance that the cloned animal will look and act completely different from the original. Cloning a pet costs a lot of money, does not work all the time, and there is a slim chance that they look and act the same. Pet cloning is not safe for any pet. Pet cloning should be banned.
The first reason why pet cloning should be banned is because it is expensive and time consuming. Pet cloning costs a lot of money. According to Valentini from the Daily Paws magazine, “The price to clone a pet in the USA costs [on average] $50,000 [before tax] for a dog and $35,000 [before tax] for a cat. Plus, you have to find a veterinarian willing to take a tissue sample from your pet and send it to the cloning company, [and that can take weeks if not months].” Why spend so much money on a dog that will look the same but “will act differently because it is its own individual with its own mindset” (Lupsha). The process to clone an animal takes longer than a baby to be born through the whole nine months. "The process of cloning a pet from start to finish can take 8 to 12 months," (Burgess). It takes 8-12 months for you to find a vet willing to take a DNA sample, ship it to the facility, run labs, and then finally get to the cloning stage. Then you have to wait another month for your pet to recover. So cloning animals is time consuming and is worth thousands of dollars for an animal to look the same but act completely different from what was wanted. This is why pet cloning should be banned.
The second reason why pet cloning should be banned is because cloning does not work almost all of the time. Experts agree that cloning an animal only works “a third of the time” (Cloning). This shows that if a pet happens to be cloned then there is a high chance that the animal will not be anything similar to what was wanted. When a pet is cloned the purpose of the clone is to look and act like the original. For example, when a dog is cuddly towards the owner, the owner wants the cloned pet to be cuddly towards them. The wanted outcome of pet cloning rarely happens. “They seem to display different personalities than their genetic producer” (Cloning). This gives false hope to people wanting to clone because there is a slim chance one will get what was expected. Similarly,“Behind every heralded success are hundreds of monstrous failures” (Pacelle). This means that when someone gets the expected outcome of a clone there are hundreds of people who got the horrific outcome of cloning. The odds are not in someone's favor. On average “animal cloning failure rates remain as high as 90 percent” (Center). One should not want to invest thousands of dollars in something that is almost always expected to fail. This makes people who are looking to clone not believe in cloning as much. This is why cloning should be banned for giving others false hope.
Some say that pet cloning is beneficial because clones bread healthier offspring. “Cloning allows farmers and ranchers to accelerate the reproduction of their most productive livestock in order to better produce safe and healthy food.” Some could argue that clones breed healthier offspring, however it is clear that cloning is cruel to the animals getting cloned. Of the 10 percent of clones that do come out as expected there is a great chance that they will have “long term health defects.” (Animal). If one survived though the procedure they would survive with long term health defects for the rest of his or her life. Cloning is cruel to the animal being cloned and cloned. “Cloning is the final assault on their well-being and dignity” (Pacelle). To clone the animal they have to take DNA and put the animals into uncomfortable situations like testing and wearing a healer that makes them not able to move their head. (Pacelle). To the cloned animal, if the owner that is taking the dog is not happy with the result then the owner will bring them to a shelter to be adopted. This is cruel to both the animal cloned and being cloned, so pet cloning should be banned.
It is best to come to a reasonable conclusion that banning pet cloning is the right thing to do. People need to be aware of this situation. Pet cloning should be banned because it is cruel to animals, costs a lot of money and time, and does not work most of the time. In my project I will be writing a letter to the government. In the letter I will inform the government of the dangers and negatives of pet cloning.
